Solved: Problems integrating Smartthings with Google Home Samsung Community 445191

First, you should download the Google Home app so you can set the devices, and SmartThings app to customize your SmartThings devices. Luckily, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings can easily connect via their designated apps. This article will guide you through the process. Samsung Smart Things hub allows you to wirelessly connect all smart household devices and use them together. The best part – Google Home can connect to SmartThings, too.

If the room doesn't exist, you can add it as this stage by creating a new room during this process. Alternatively, you can head into the settings and find "rooms and groups" and add devices to existing rooms if you prefer. I got it to work by using a friends android phone.

Asking google home to sync devices, none of my z-wave/smartthings devices are available to google assistant. I’ve gone through this process probably 40 times now and continue with the same result; Nothing. One thing that SmartThings support told me that I find as garbage, apparently, now, smartthings devices won’t ever show up in the Google home dashboard. That means you can use your Google Nest Mini to bark voice commands at your smart home devices connected via the SmartThings hub. For instance, you can ask Google Assistant on the Nest Mini to lock and unlock the Schlage smart lock on your front door.

Joe loves all things technology and is also an avid DIYer at heart. He has written thousands of articles, hundreds of tutorials, and dozens of reviews. You’ll be brought to the sign-in page where you can use your Samsung account or SmartThings account. Anyway, my point is that I can now say “OK Google, turn on the ceiling lights in the back bedroom”, and it works like a champ. In this case, I have to specify the room as part of my command since I have “Ceiling” lights in other rooms too. In Hue itself, my lights all have longer & more descriptive names, but I use the Nickname capability in GH to really shorten those up.

This does happen when there are no supported devices in the service you are linking. If the smart lock is the only device you have in SmartThings that might be why as SmartThings does not expose smart locks to Google Assistant. Now, you’ll need to select your location from the list and press “Authorize.” Now, all the devices on this location will be authorized. Create an account on both platforms. Then, make sure that the Google Home account on your smartphone app is the same as the one you linked your Google Home device to. I’ve been trying to connect Smartthings to Google Home to no avail.

Same responsive for every device “not available right now.” It does appear to not have access, but I don’t know what else to do. Odd that I don’t see others with the same issue. Finally, make sure all smart devices are connected to the same wireless network. Now, you can proceed to connect the two hubs. Now that you've finished the set-up process, you’re ready to control your SmartThings devices with your voice through Google Assistant. Here are some example phrases for controlling SmartThings devices.

Missing Device

So, you’ll need to add devices to rooms in the Google Home Control so you can control them with Google Assistant. For instance, I have 4 ceiling fixtures in my house that each have 2-3 smart bulbs in them. In Hue, each bulb is named along the lines like “Back bedroom overhead 2”. I have single smart switches in two bedrooms. I can control them individually via ST app, no issues.

I don’t believe you can reset the default browser. Gill, the only things that need the 2.4 are appliances. If its connected to SmartThings on either band, Google should be able to see it. Downdetector.com needs to review the security of your connection before proceeding. Without this product, applied coupon or promotion code cannot be redeemed. If your Google Assistant device or app is not responding as expected, contact Google Assistant Help.

How to Reconnect SmartThings to the Google Home App

If it is, remove your devices and Nest from your Linked Services in the SmartThings app’s settings before re-adding. Have you added Google Home to your SmartThings hub? How’s the entire setup working, are there any issues?

You will need to assign your SmartThings devices to rooms in order to control them as a group with Google Assistant. After signing in, you’ll be asked to “Authorize” Google to access your SmartThings locations, devices, and scenes. Starting on September 8, 2020, the original SmartThings integration with Google Home will stop working. You’ll no longer be able to control devices from a Google Assistant-enabled device, such as Nest smart speakers and smart displays. This affects anyone who added SmartThings to Google Home before April 15, 2020.

SmartThings device does not respond or the status is disconnected or incorrect

Yup, but I'm thinking u/PhilStation is correct and smart things won't share door locks to Google. If your Nest device or app is not responding as expected, visit us using theContact the Manufacturerbutton below. Confirm that your device is working correctly in the Nest app. Choose a device that you’d like to add to a room.

I never get to the account login. From your brief description, I thought you were trying to add a Google Home device directly.

When I tell GH to turn on or off the lights, by name… nothing happens. Seems that it turns both lights on or off, but not individually. I have them named as, Bob’s Light and Sue’s Light. SmartThings works with certified Google Assistant devices and can be used to control lighting, plugs, thermostats , and Scenes configured with SmartThings. Google can also check the status of motion and contact sensors.

For whatever reason GH isn’t recognizing the lights individually, no matter what I name them. I’ve named them as, Bob’s Main, Bob’s Light, Bob’s Room. The other thing is if the room name is in the nickname, such as “living room overhead light” and the light is in the “living room” then this causes confusion as well. A command to “Turn Off Living Room overhead Light” results in all the lights in the living room going off. Says linked, and then Something went wrong.

Problems integrating Smartthings with Google Home

I apologize for not using the correct terminology. To connect the Smartthings service it is done thru the Google Home app and that’s what I’m having trouble with. The Google Assistant is a voice-activated assistant available on the Google Home speaker and all Google Android devices.

Much as I enjoy technology sometimes, I’m really starting to regret this smarthome crap. This may not help you at all but it’s worth taking couple minutes and checking. This may be way off but I seem to recall someone mentioning that they had to log into their actual Google account and delete Smartthings from there and then they could get it to relink. Followed those instructions up to step 5. I get the error previously mentioned.
